General Purpose Building
Hidden among trees and bushes, we found a peaceful garden that had formerly been used by patients of the neighbouring gynaecological clinic – a large green space in the midst of the campus-like hospital grounds in Tübingen.
The transparency and lightness of the trees became a central motif for the facade design, so that the building reflects the calm character of the garden. The four functional units are linked by a common foyer.
Located on the ground floor is the outpatients' department of the institute for psychosomatic medicine, as well as spaces for child and adolescent psychiatry. The outpatients' department for the partially sighted is situated on the upper floor, with training and examination rooms, and service areas for the university clinic.
